Chronic stress triggers the body’s “fight-or-flight” system repeatedly, releasing cortisol and other stress hormones.
The continual activation of stress can disrupt nearly all the body’s systems, raising the risk of conditions such as anxiety, depression, digestive issues, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, weight gain, insomnia, and memory/focus problems.
